Who Can Enroll In Our Programs?

Those 18 years of age or older who…

  • Have a diagnosed serious and persistent mental health disorder or co-occurring substance use disorder
  • Agree to a diagnostic assessment performed by a MHALC licensed clinician (This diagnostic assessment is a clinical evaluation to obtain information to determine the most appropriate treatment)
  • Clients can also self-refer, be referred by their primary provider, family member or another community agency
Note: accepted clients must be willing to commit to attend the program at least two days per week

Individual Care Plan

The activities supported by MHALC programs are known as community integration services. These services require that participants be actively involved in their rehabilitation including: goal planning, objective setting and fully understanding interventional strategies. An individual care plan is developed with each client to both identify needs and continually monitor progress. Clients are under the care of the program’s medical director who is a board-certified psychiatrist and a LPHA. Additionally, a RN provides on-site medication compliance instruction, nutrition education, disease prevention as well as works closely with each client to help them maintain their overall all health and wellness.

Payment

Clients admitted to the MHALC programs typically pay for our services through a third-party insurer. MHALC participates in plans through Absolute Total Care and Healthy Connections, both of which are programs sponsored by South Carolina Medicaid. Clients may also pay privately. We also have a limited number of sponsorships available which are made possible by some of our generous grantors.

Transportation

Transportation for those who are Absolute Total Care or Healthy Connections beneficiaries are typically eligible for round trip medical transportation. And for those who are not beneficiaries of either of these two programs we rely on them and/or their family members to make these arrangements. However, our staff will be more than happy to assist with the arrangements when needed.
